RICK KENNEDY ANNOUNCES 2020 CONGRESSIONAL CAMPAIGN For TEXAS’ 17th DISTRICT
Kennedy says protecting health care will be top priority in Congress
AUSTIN, TX, April 2, 2019 – Engineer Rick Kennedy announced his challenge to long-time incumbent Bill Flores today. Kennedy, who ran for Congress in 2018, plans to tour the 17th district in the coming weeks to meet voters and hear their concerns.
“As an engineer, I won’t leave a critical problem unfinished,” said Kennedy. “I launched my first campaign because Bill Flores voted to take health care away from more than 2.5 million Texans. This week, his allies made it clear again that they will not stop until they succeed. In Congress, I will fight to make sure that everyone has access to quality, affordable health care and no one can take it away from them.”
Rick Kennedy is a software engineer, who lives in Austin. He challenged Bill Flores in 2018 and announced his intention to run again in 2020. The 17th includes Brazos, Burleson, Falls, Freestone, Limestone, McLennan, Milam, and Robertson counties; also portions of Bastrop, Lee, Leon, and Travis counties. Rick Kennedy finished the 2018 midterm election with the closest margin of any Democrat since the district was redrawn in 2011.
